Gaspésien stromboli

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough ball
  • 1 package (or 200 g) sliced Gaspesian pepperoni
  • 1 package (or 200 g) sliced Gaspesian salami
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or pizza cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons homemade or store-bought garlic butter
  • 1 beaten egg

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle.
  3. Spread part of the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving about 3 cm (1 inch) from the edges.
  4. Layer the salami slices on top, then add about 1 cup of shredded cheese.
  5. Add the remaining tomato sauce, then spread the pepperoni and the rest of the cheese evenly.
  6. Brush the edges with a thin layer of beaten egg.
  7. Fold in the edges and roll the dough tightly to form a neat log.
  8. Place the roll on a baking sheet, brush with garlic butter, and cut a few slits in the stromboli to allow steam to escape during baking.
